A superb well used African Dan Tribe mask from The Cote d' Ivoire. This Dan mask is known as "Deangle" and is worn by the intermediary who acts between the village and the forest initiation camp. The eyes are often painted with white pigment where a few traces still remain on this mask, just as women eyes are painted during ritual celebrations. This is a superb and rare carving from the Dan Tribe, this mask shows many signs of age and Tribal use.
