A very old Yombe 'Ngobudi,' Tribal mask sourced from The DRC Congo. Yombe masks have realistic features such as ears and filed teeth, the colour in this mask symbolises the spirits of the dead. This mask was worn during initiation ceremonies and funerals of important personalities. It is also embodied with a judiciary power: See a similar example in 'Spirits Speak' Stepan & Hahner pg:174 plate 86. This is a superb example of an very old and rare Yombe mask showing good signs of age and Tribal use.
