A superb 'Kwele' Tribal mask sourced from The Ivory Coast, West Africa. This mask is typical of the Kwele Tribe's style. These masks are used during initiation ceremonies and or at he end of a mourning period but are not worn by tribal members, they are rather shown to the audience. These masks represent the spirits of the forest. The white kaolin represents the the spirit world (peace and tranquility).
