A fantastic 'Mau' Tribal Mask sourced from the Ivory Coast. Too small to be worn on the head, this mask was held by its long snout in front of the dancers face. Known as 'Komaba,' it was a magical object kept in mens houses. It recieved sacrificial libations and was used in the koma rite of the Mau, a malinha group living north of the Dan. A female mask, it danced and sang to attract evil forces which were then dispelled and destroyed by its male counterpart the Koma Su.
