A Superb African Mask from the Senufo Tribe, Ivory Coast. These 'Kpeli-Yehe' masks are worn at a funeral and they serve to compell the spirit of the deceased to leave his home. The idealised female face is marked by scarification marks either side of its nose and forehead and a protruding mouth with prominent teeth.
This is a superb example of a Senufo mask.
