A very rare Anyi Tribe statue from The Cote d' Ivoire. The Anyi have an artistic tradition showing influence of the Baule and Lagoon Tribes. This figure was used by a traditional healers and its role was to convey messages to spirits living in the other world. They are also known to be given as prizes to outstanding dancers. This is a superb example of a Anyi Tribe figure with a great encrusted patina showing good signs of age and Tribal use.
