These Bamileke Feathered Headresses are known as Juju or Tyn hats. They are worn during important Royal Court affair ceremonies by the Chief, important officials and dancers. The Headdress consists of genuine African Parrot feathers which are sewn into a raffia type basket. When not in use the Juju hat can be folded in on itself and held by its woven handle. The Parrot feathers are a symbol of prosperity, they are seen as rare objects of beauty and for the positive qualities associated with the Birds. This is a superb example of a Bamileke African Feathered Headdress in great condition.
